Omaha, NE --The 24th annual Boys Town National Research Hospital Memorial Day Run will take place at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2008 on the historic Boys Town Campus, 138th & Dodge Street.

Over 2,500 walkers and runners are expected to participate in one of three events; children’s 1-mile fun run for ages 12 and under at 8:00 a.m., family 1-mile walk/run at 8:30 a.m. or the 5-mile walk/run at 9:00 a.m.  Awards will be given to the top three placements of each race and all children participants will receive a ribbon.

All 3 courses are walk, run and family friendly. We welcome all ages and fitness levels to join us at the 2008 event to help children with hearing loss and visual impairments. All courses will be monitored by chip-timing for instant and accurate race results. All participants registered by May 22 will receive a Memorial Day Run t-shirt. Post-race activities include food, music, massage therapists, clowns, face painting, family entertainment, children’s door prizes, raffle and awards.

Register online or print a registration form at www.boystownhospital.org.  Registration forms will also be available at all Peak Performance stores. Entry fees are $15 for children 12 and under and $18 for individuals 13 and over if registered by May 16.  Late fees will be added to registration after May 16. For more information about the Memorial Day Run, or to request registration materials, contact memorialrun@boystown.org or 402-498-6729.

Proceeds from the Memorial Day Run will benefit the Cochlear Implant program at the Lied Learning and Technology Center at Boys Town National Research Hospital. The cochlear implant surgery provides auditory input for profoundly deaf children, which maximizes the benefit for speech and auditory learning at home and in school.

The Children’s Fun Run is presented by Copic Insurance, the Family 1-Mile walk/run event is presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska and the 5-Mile walk/run is presented by Performance Toyota Scion.
