- Be positive about school. Talk with your child about why it's important that he or she continue to concentrate on school.
- Praise your child’s efforts for working hard, and encourage him or her to keep up the good work for the rest of the semester.
- Maintain study times. If your child wants to go outside and enjoy the nice weather, make sure he or she makes up the study time later in the evening. Make sure the study area has no distractions such as a TV, radio or phone.
- Ask to see your child’s assignments and look over the homework. Make sure the work is complete, but DO NOT DO YOUR CHILD’S HOMEWORK.
- Be understanding if your child tells you he or she is frustrated or bored. Just listening to your child talk about school can make him or her feel better.
- Show a love of learning at home. Ask questions, exchange ideas and allow your child to arrive at personal conclusions.
By taking to heart these hints, you can help your child make the last few weeks of school a success.
