Depending on the severity of the flu, your child may feel sick for only a few days or the symptoms may last up to 7 days. Muscle fatigue and tiredness may linger for another week.
Any infant under the age of 3 months with a fever greater than 100.3° F should be seen immediately. For older infants and children, parents should seek medical attention if their child’s fever lasts more than 48-72 hours or if your child seems overly tired or dehydrated. Any time you are concerned about your child’s health or if there is ever any question about whether your child should be seen, please call your Boys Town Pediatrics clinic. We offer a 24-hour nurse helpline.
