GI Parent Partner: Medications

Transcript

It's scary to be diagnosed and then it's scary right on top of that because very quickly you hear how much these medications cost.  From a mother to a caregiver, I'm here to tell you that it will all work itself out.  There is a way for everything.  All you have to do is call patient services at Boys Town and they will figure out how to help you and how to service you and how to get you the biggest possible discount or to help you financially.

At home it can be a myriad of things.  You can have your heating pad.  You can have your Tylenol.  You can have your Benadryl.  You can have whatever makes you feel better.  I know a lot of people that use a lot of different supplements and over the counter products but they all clear it with their doctor.

Joanna Hagedorn, a Parent Partner with the Pediatric GI team at Boys Town Pediatrics talks about her experiences and offers advice to other parents going through this diagnosis for the first time.
