Preparing for Your Hearing Test Using Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
Welcome to Boys Town Audiology. We’ve created the following video so our patients know what to expect at their appointment.
Your child will be coming in for hearing testing using visual reinforcement audiometry (VRA). During this appointment, we are going to touch your child’s ears, look in their ears, take some ear measurements and complete a hearing test. For this type of hearing test, we will play some sounds through speakers or headphones and look for a head turn from your child. This response is re-enforced with some sort of visual stimuli like a video or light up toy.
This testing is used for our patients that are infant through preschool ages (keep in mind that this age range is just a guide and a different testing method may be used depending on patient interests and needs).
