Safety and Security
The safety and security of the children and teens in our care are our top priorities. Our long-standing Boys Town model allows us to create a safe and nurturing environment where every child can fully embrace each opportunity to heal, learn and grow.
Guided by the highest standards of care, our program adheres to strict state, federal and The Joint Commission guidelines. Our Residential Treatment Center is a secure, locked facility where trained behavioral health technicians and nursing staff provide around-the-clock support to children and adolescents.
Our comprehensive safety and security measures include:
- Youth-to-staff ratio – With staff members conducting continuous safety monitoring, we maintain a low youth-to-staff ratio to always ensure personalized attention and supervision.
- Controlled visitor access – All visitors must be approved in advance, and visitations are scheduled exclusively by legal guardians to maintain a secure environment.
- 24/7 video monitoring – Video cameras are strategically placed in all common areas, including hallways, classrooms, living rooms and dining rooms, to ensure constant oversight and safety.
- Motion detectors in bedrooms – Motion detectors in every bedroom alert staff members during the hours that youth are in bed, allowing for immediate response if needed.
- On-site security personnel – Our dedicated security team conducts frequent, random checks throughout the facility and are always available to respond in the event of an emergency.
- Monthly surveys – Youth participate in monthly safety surveys and have access to our youth safety line to report any concerns. Youth are also encouraged to advocate for themselves by reporting any concerns to a supervisor or manager.
